Force ‘copter checks

CLEVELAND Police’s helicopter is being monitored daily after reports of similar models having faults in their rotor heads.

Officers are checking the aircraft every day following a discovery of cracks in the main rotor hubs on the vehicles, including a Scotland air ambulance.

A force spokeswoman said: “The force helicopter is being properly monitored every day for evidence of cracks.

“Currently a minute number of cases have come forward of helicopters of the same model found to have cracks in the rotor head, if anything is found concerning our helicopter then we will take the appropriate action.”
