A COMMUNITY venue is re-opening its doors today after a multi-million pound refurbishment.
The £18.5 million scheme at Billingham Forum is now complete and it re-opens for three days of events, taster sessions and entertainment.
Contractors Morgan Sindall finished work at the beginning of May.
From today to Sunday, people will get the chance to take part in taster sessions, and fitness classes as well as the chance to skate on the new ice rink, swim, play badminton and squash.
Youngsters can also try out the new play barn.
Councillor Ken Lupton, leader of Stockton Borough Council, said: “It is fantastic to see Billingham Forum reopen its doors as this is a much loved sports and leisure facility for the people of Billingham, Stockton borough and the wider region.
“The weekend of celebrations will allow people to come in and try out all the different sessions.”
Steve Chaytor, managing director of Tees Active, added: “There is real excitement in Billingham and among the staff of Tees Active at the reopening of the forum.
“We believe this is a scheme that puts Billingham Forum in the premier division of leisure facilities.”
