Four injured in three-car smash

FOUR people were taken to hospital after a three-car collision.

The incident happened on Tees Road, near the Blue Lagoon at Seaton Carew, around 1.50pm on Sunday.

A black Vauxhall Zafira was flipped onto its side during the collision, which also involved a blue Renault Clio and a green Citroen car.

Police closed the road while the incident was dealt with and it was reopened at 3.30pm.

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We got a call from the police at 2pm to advise us of a three-vehicle road traffic collision, with one vehicle believed to have flipped onto its side.

“The patient complained of abdomen and back injuries.

“We sent a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances and transported four patients to the University Hospital of North Tees, all with minor injuries.”
