HISTORY and a chance to spread the word about Hartlepool – it was the perfect combination for Frank and Margaret Douglas.

The Hartlepool couple went on a cruise in the Baltic Sea and it included the chance to call in at St Petersburg in Russia.

The couple are pictured next to the ship Aurora and Frank said: “It has the distinction of firing the first shot that started the Russian revolution in 1917.”

The second photogrpah shows the couple with their cruise ship the P&O Arcadia in the background and was taken at the opera house in Oslo.

Frank added: “The cruise was part of a retirement plan.”

It was also a chance for Frank and Margaret to show off their love for Hartlepool by taking a copy of the Mail’s Proud To Be A Poolie poster with them.

Our thanks go to them for backing our Poolie campaign.
