Motorists will benefit from free tyre safety checks and advice at a supermarket next week.
A tyre awareness event is being held at Tesco’s store, Belle Vue Way, Hartlepool, on Thursday, August 27.
Checks will be carried out by technicians from mobile tyre replacement, repair and wheel alignment specialists Hometyre North East.
Experts will be looking at the pressure and condition of tyres during the event and say they will be aiming to educate motorists about the potential problems they should look out for to stay safe.
“We’ll be carrying out free no obligation tyre checks, looking at pressures, tyre condition and tread depths,” said Patrick Kelly, of Hometyre.
“We’ll be educating motorists about the potential problems they should look out for and show them how to check and adjust their own tyre pressures. We’ll also be showing drivers examples of dangerous worn-out or damaged tyres that shouldn’t be on the road, including illegal tyres that were sold to unsuspecting motorists as part-worn tyres.”
The tyre safety awareness event marks a relaunch for Hometyre North East, which is expanding its area of operation across the region.
The company provides roadside tyre fitting, repair and wheel balancing services to motorists at a location of their choice such as their home or workplace.
The new Hometyre franchise covers an area from South Shields to Teesside including Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Durham, Sunderland and Redcar.
The tyre checks will be carried out in the car park of the Tesco Extra store between 9am and 5pm.
