THREE pals have completed a gruelling day of training around five North-East gyms in a bid to raise charity cash in memory of a Hartlepool youngster.
Adam Flounders, 27, Chris Kelly, 27, and Micky Rae, 26, decided to hold a fundraising event to remember Taylor Stallard, who passed away five years ago.
And all money raised from the challenge will be given to the Make A Wish Foundation which helps fulfil the dreams of ill youngsters from around the country.
The trio completed three workouts at five gyms across the region including Gateshead, Durham, Darlington, Teesside and finally in their home town of Hartlepool, at the Crossfit Telic gym off Brenda Road.
Fitness trainer Adam, from the Dyke House area of Hartlepool, said: “We decided to do five intense workouts at five North-East gyms.
“We started off first thing in the morning and then worked our way around the gyms.
“We did a combination of structured workouts up to an hour or an hour-and-a-half long, and involved things like weight lifting, gymnastics and endurance sports, basically most sports you can think of really.
“Basically with these work-outs it’s recommended that you only do one a day so doing five is a tough challenge.”
He added: “We’re doing it in memory of Taylor Stallard because I’ve known her family since I was a kid.
“Taylor is the inspiration behind it.”
The lads are also taking part in the Big Lime Triathalon on September 21 to raise money for the same cause.
The Make a Wish Foundation helped the family of four-year-old Taylor whose short life was blighted by chronic lung disease and immune deficiency.
Make a Wish provided Taylor’s family with a Center Parcs holiday just three weeks before she died in June 2009.
