Fuel spillage causes hold-ups at A689 Wolviston roundabout

A SPILLAGE of diesel caused traffic chaos for commuters.

One engine from Billingham Fire Station went to clean-up 10 litres of diesel on the A19 northbound carriageway slip-road onto the A689 roundabout at Wolviston.

The slip-road was closed while crews cleaned up the fuel at around 3.35pm.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said the road re-opened at 4.15pm.

She said: “There was a spillage of diesel on the off-ramp from the A19 northbound onto the A689 roundabout.

“The slip-road was temporarily closed but was re-opened again at 4.15pm.”
