Fundraising for cancer care nurses

BINGO club customers are being urged to back a charity campaign.

A fundraising drive at Mecca Hartlepool has been launched to raise cash for Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses.

The campaign, called Purses for Nurses, is asking for donations of unwanted handbags, purses or wallets and manbags which will then be sold on in Marie Curie’s shops.

Residents are urged to drop their donations at the bingo club, off The Lanyard, Hartlepool, throughout the month-long campaign.

Money raised will go towards helping to provide more free care at home for people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.

Gavin Lee, general manager at Mecca Hartlepool, said: “We have a collection bin set up at the front of the club so people can easily just pop in and drop off their donation.”
