FUNDRAISERS will get into the swing of things when an annual charity golf day takes place later this month.

Hartlepool & District Hospice hosts it yearly event at Wynyard Golf Club on Friday, September 26.

A total of 25 teams from the local corporate sector have entered teams to take part in the four-ball competition, and Hospice events manager Greg Hildreth says the event could be the best yet.

Joe Palmer, general manager at Drive Vauxhall on Burn Road, has sponsored the event and will have a team competing for the honours.

Greg said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Joe and his team for this extremely generous sponsorship.

“This type of corporate donation makes a huge difference in funding projects such as our Golf Tournament, meaning that much more of the revenue is pure net profit, which will be used to directly fund the services we offer free of charge to patients and families affected by incurable illnesses.

“We will look forward to welcoming the staff of Drive Vauxhall, who will be joining us at the Wynyard Club on the day.

“I’d also like to thank Rob Hoskins from RK Consultancy for his help in setting the event up, as well as Chris Mounter and all the team at Wynyard Golf Club.”

Teams have each paid £295 to enter, which includes refreshments and a dinner after the tournament is finished, and prizes are up for grabs.

Greg added: “This is something we do every year, and it is always a popular event which really helps us boost our funds.

“The response has been brilliant already, and everyone is really looking forward to it.”
