AN evening that gave people the chance to contact their lost loved ones from beyond the grave raised thousands of pounds for a hospice.
Psychic medium Peter Crawford held an evening of clairvoyance at The Staincliffe Hotel, in Seaton Carew, which raised more than £2,000 for Hartlepool and District Hospice.
Around 160 people attended the February event, which also featured Horden-based medium Irene Wilson and newcomer Angela Atkinson, from Hartlepool.
Proceeds from the night, which also included a raffle, brought the total raised for charity over the years by Peter and Irene to more than £52,000.
Previous causes to have benefited include Cancer Research UK, children’s charities and West Park Primary School, which is attended by Peter’s sons, Alex, eight, and five-year-old Samuel.
A similar charity clairvoyance evening held by Peter and Irene at The Staincliffe last year also saw more than £2,000 raised for the neo-natal unit at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.
Peter, who is originally from Peterlee but has lived in Hartlepool for four years, has been involved in mediumship for 24 years.
He said: “We try and give proof of life after death.
“This was a night of mediumship as well as a night of humour and laughter, it was a good night.
“We chose the hospice as I always think one day when I get older, if I end up there, people might raise money for me.”
Greg Hildreth, a fundraiser at the hospice, said: “Thanks to Peter and everyone who supported this fundraising event, on behalf of all at the hospice.
“This really is a tremendous result and I’m really pleased that Peter has been able to help our charity, as well as those whom he has helped spiritually.
“This type of support is extremely valuable to us and I would like to congratulate Peter on his success and wish him all the very best for the future.”
Peter’s next charity night of clairvoyance will be on Tuesday, May 15, from 7.30pm, at The Staincliffe, in aid of Tourettes Action.
Tickets are £13 and more information about the event can be obtained from Mr Crawford’s facebook page.
