A CARING firm is making sure disadvantaged children will get a chocolate treat this Easter.

Mason and Gerald Martin Funeral Service, in Park Road, Hartlepool, is appealing for people to support their efforts by donating an Easter egg.

The firm collects dozens of the seasonal sweets every year to give to needy children across the region.

The eggs will be distributed to children at a hospice in Stockton, the children’s ward at the University Hospital of Hartlepool and to youngsters at women’s refuges in Hartlepool and Peterlee.

Funeral arranger Julia Masshedar said: “It means a lot to the children. We have done it year after year and they are always well received. We would encourage everyone to give as generously as possible.”

The deadline for donations is Friday, April 15.

Eggs can be dropped off at Mason and Gerald Martin, at 129 Park Road, Hartlepool.
