DETAILS have been released for the funeral of Hartlepool United legend Kenny Johnson.
A service will be held in memory of Kenny, who is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, next Tuesday at the Parish Church of Holy Trinity, in Seaton Carew.
It comes after he died aged 80 on Thursday last week following a short illness.
The service of thanksgiving starts at noon ahead of cremation at Stranton Grange Crematorium.
His most famous moment in a Pools shirt came in an FA Cup tie against Manchester United in 1957, when he scored in a narrow 4-3 defeat to the Manchester giants.
More than 5,000 Pools fans united to pay a silent tribute to the Hartlepool footballing legend before the start of his former team’s first home match of the new year on Monday against Scunthorpe United.
Fans and members of Kenny’s family united in silence to pay tribute to the man who played for Hartlepool United from the late 1940s to the 1960s.
He leaves wife Olwyn, and daughter Julie.
