A FUNERAL service has paid tribute to everyone who supported its Easter egg donation service.

Mason and Gerald Martin funeral directors has run an Easter egg collection for years.

This year, around 255 eggs have been handed over which will now be donated to worthy causes.

Almost half of those were given thanks to members of the Body Wise gym, in Stockton Road, Hartlepool.

Gerald Martin said: “I’m so impressed with all who have donated one or more eggs for this worthy course that has been running for many years now.

“With the help of my team the Easter eggs are delivered to a children’s hospice, hospitals, and other groups less fortunate than ourselves.”

Samantha Bransom, whose husband Andrew runs the Body Wise gym, said: “Mr Martin is one of our regular clients and has been coming for a number of years.

“We knew that he did Christmas collections and when we heard that he was doing an Easter one, we decided to support it.”

Causes which will benefit from this year’s collection will include children at Harbour Women’s Refuge, in Hartlepool, and Peterlee, the Butterwick Children’s Hospice, the University Hospital of Hartlepool and the Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group, which is based in Park Road.
