YOUNG stars were celebrated at an awards night.

The Future’s Bright Awards were held at the Borough Hall, on Hartlepool’s Headland, last night.

X Factor girl group Belle Amie performed on the night and also handed out the 10 awards.

Around 300 people attended the evening that marked a range of achievements by Hartlepool’s young people.

It was organised by Hartlepool Youth Parliament, a group of 12 teenagers who represent and promote young people in the town.

Juliette Ward, a youth particpation worker, said: “These are awards for young people that have been organised by young people.

“They have done everything from selecting the nominations and winners and organising the entertainment.

“It was a very positive night and was enjoyed by everyone.”

The awards included Project of the Year, Courage, Outstanding Contribution to Youth, Volunteering, Environment, Back on Track, Entertainment, Academic Achievement and Young Person Champion.
