A GARDEN party was full of the joys of the English summer.
A host of attractions filled the picturesque grounds of St Luke’s Church, off Hart Lane, in Hartlepool, on Saturday.
Crowds flocked to enjoy the annual community event that was this year given the theme of English garden.
Traditional entertainment was provided by the Youth Silver Band, while miniature horses proved a hit with visitors.
And to make sure everyone knew the theme of the day, strawberry teas were on offer with lashings of jam and cream during the two-hour event.
Stalls provided a range of treats while youngsters enjoyed games and crafts.
Rachel Wilson, who helped organise the day, said: “Lots of people come each year to enjoy the church’s garden party and this year was no different.
“With the theme of English garden, we put on traditional entertainment and things that are instantly seen as English.
“There were lots of traditional, colourful stalls such as plants and produce and the ever popular cake stall.”
Other attractions included raffles, tombolas, a bouncy slide, face painting and bric-a-brac.
