A FESTIVE fundraiser who dresses up as Santa every Christmas to raise charity cash has donated the £350 he raised in December.
Kind-hearted Jim Croll goes along to Christmas parties and events every year as Santa in support of a chosen charity.
In 2013 that charity was the Butterwick Hospice and Jim, 68, went to 11 parties across the town putting a smile on the faces of children and raising money.
The retired steel worker has now handed over the cash to the grateful staff at the hospice, in Stockton.
Jim, who lives in Oxford Road with his wife Mandy, 45, said: “I never know how much I’m going to raise each year but hopefully the £350 will make a difference.
“It’s £350 they wouldn’t have got if I didn’t do the fundraising so that’s what I tell myself.
“I always enjoy going along to the parties and events and the kids seem to absolutely love it.”
Jim has been dressing up as Santa since 1999 when he did it for the first time to raise money for the Freeman Hospital, where his son, Michael, was treated after he was born with five heart defects. Over the years he has raised thousands of pounds for a number of local charities.
