Get a foothold in volunteering

A VOLUNTEER group is hoping to find more people willing to help with unpaid work.

The Volunteer Centre at Hartlepool Voluntary Development Agency (HVDA) has highlighted four different types of jobs available for people willing to try work in the Hartlepool area.

A place is available for a catering sales assistant.

The successful applicant is needed to serve pre-packed food items on a kiosk in a busy town centre medical centre.

They will also be needed to serve customers with bottled drinks, pre-packed sandwiches and sundries as well as jacket potato and hot soup.

In another vacancy, volunteers are needed at a busy local bistro in Hartlepool.

People are needed to help both within the kitchen and front of house. The role involves preparing a variety of dishes in a busy kitchen, serving customers, serving food to table, clearing tables, cash handling and using electronic tills.

A gardener and yard person is needed in a third role which entails all aspects of general garden and yard maintenance.

And in a fourth role, a small community shop needs people to provide cover from 12pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, and between 12pm and 1pm from Monday to Friday.

Anyone wanting more information should contact the volunteer centre on (01429) 262641, or call into the office at Rockhaven, 36 Victoria Road, Hartlepool.
