BOOKINGS are now being taken for a range of new year fitness sessions at venues across Hartlepool.
The New Year, New You initiative comprises a series of mainly Begin 2 classes, most of them for both men and women.
Organised by Hartlepool Council’s Sport and Physical Activity team, they will start on various dates in January and in most cases run for around six weeks.
They will take place at a range of venues, including Mill House Leisure Centre, the Headland Sports Hall and Brierton Community Sports Centre. Some will be held during the day and others on an evening. Most of the classes cost £15 per person.
The classes include Begin 2 Kettlercise, Begin 2 Circuits, Begin 2 Aquajog, Begin 2 Legs, Bums and Tums, Begin 2 Badminton, Begin 2 Bootcamp, Women’s Begin 2 Dance and Begin 2 Dance (Partners).
There will also be three separate opportunities for people to take part in the increasingly popular activity of Nordic Walking. Using a Scandanavian technique that gives an all-over body work out, Nordic Walking enables people to burn up to 47 per cent more calories than normal walking.
Begin 2 Nordic, Community Nordic and Age UK Nordic (50+ years) classes are to be held, the latter two on an on-going pay-as-you-go basis at a cost of £2.50 per session.
Gemma Ptak, the council’s senior sport and physical activity co-ordinator, said: “If your new year’s resolution is going to be to get fitter in 2013 then we want to hear from you.
“These classes will enable you to achieve your own personal goal for getting into shape and feeling better about yourself.”
