SCORES of families had a slice of the action when a fun roadshow came to town.

The Kingsmill Fun Lunch tour rolled into Hartlepool for an action-packed day of activities in Victory Square.

Hundreds of people entered a competition to design a sandwich and be in with a chance of winning a street party to coincide with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

The Fun Lunch team entertained shoppers with games and activities and helped children create their ultimate dream sandwich, providing ingredients including chicken and carrot sticks.

The winning child’s recipe will be recreated and photographed for the Fun Lunch Recipe Book, along with 23 other entries from across the UK.

The winner will receive a £250 Toys ‘R’ Us voucher, chefs’ outfits for their whole class and a Big Lunch for their street on June 3, featuring a special appearance and from Big Lunch patron and Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley.

A Kingsmill spokeswoman said: “Everybody that was there was really pleased with how it went. We had around 200 people enter the competition.”
