Getting fit and having fun proves a hit

PEOPLE are taking advantage of new fitness courses to help chill out and tone up.

Hartlepool Borough Council’s sport and physical activity team is running the fun fitness courses for beginners at Hartlepool’s Headland Sports Hall.

The first called Begin 2 Boxfit started this week. It incorporates basic boxing techniques to help people tone up their muscles and lose weight.

It runs at the sports centre in Union Street on the Headland on Wednesdays.

The second course on offer is Begin 2 Pilates when people can try the therapeutic and calming technique.

Rachael Pringle, the council’s sport and physical activity officer, said: “These two courses are very different but both are lots of fun and provide a great introduction to two fitness techniques which are becoming ever more popular.”

Box 2 Fit started on Wednesday and takes place from 12.15pm to 1pm.

The pilates class starts on Tuesday and runs between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Both courses run for six weeks and cost £15 per person which must be booked in advance.

The council is also running a special offer on the Begin 2 Gym programme.

Anyone who signs up in September for £25 can get six sessions any time or day at Mill House Leisure Centre in Raby Road, an induction session, a techno gym key and an Active Card.
