FIREFIGHTERS went to the rescue of a little girl after she became trapped in a bathroom.

A crew from Peterlee Fire Station was sent to free the four-year-old after she had bolted the door behind her and was unable to unlock it.

The youngster had tried to escape through the window of the ground-floor bathroom but after she could not get through her worried mother had to resort to calling the fire service.

Firefighters had to force the door to get to the youngster, following the incident in North Crescent, Easington Village, at 9.15am yesterday.
