TIME is running out for budding artists to enter a competition to be in with a chance of winning a trip to a cultural capital.
The Vienna Tourist Board is appealing for the next Hartlepool or East Durham Monet or Banksy to enter its UK-wide hunt to unearth the next big artistic talent.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gustav Klimt and to commemorate the world-renowned Viennese artist, the Vienna Tourist Board is searching for his 21st century successor.
Entrants must create a Klimt or Vienna-inspired masterpiece, using Klimt’s square dimensions as inspiration.
All submissions must be photographed and uploaded to www.vienna.info/klimtcontest by August 12.
The general public will then be able to vote for their favoured artwork through the site.
Those with the most votes will be short-listed for consideration by renowned street-art gallery owner Steve Lazarides, and leading Austrian curator, Sydney Odigan, who will select the winning piece.
The lucky winner will receive a weekend trip to Vienna for two.
