IT is back with even better prizes than before.

The Hartlepool Mail has joined forces once again with the town’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre to launch our Shop for Schools contest.

Cameras, televisions and computers alongside more traditional prizes such as books are all on offer as part of our annual contest.

As a spokeswoman for the shopping centre said: “The contest is a great way of supporting your favourite school and we are so pleased to help all the entrants.”

The idea behind Shop for Schools is simple.

Each £1 you spend in any of the centre’s stores is worth one point.

Just take your receipts to Middleton Grange’s information desk and they will be instantly returned with points vouchers.

These can be placed in letter boxes marked with each participating school’s name.

The more points your favourite school earns then the greater the value of the prizes they receive.

But do not worry that bigger schools have an unfair advantage.

Point scores will be divided by pupil numbers to ensure no-one loses out.

There are also other ways of improving your school’s score.

Purchases are worth two points on Sundays and three on bank holiday Mondays.

The Mail will also be publishing a series of bonus point vouchers – starting on Monday – as well as regular league tables so you can see how well your favourite school is doing.

Watch out too next week for a list of all participating schools.

The competition runs from Monday, April 22, until Saturday, June 30.
