THOUSANDS of people didn’t let awful weather on Tyneside deter them from taking part in and supporting today’s Great North Run.

Up to 50,000 people set off in wet and windy conditions in Newcastle this morning along the 13.1-mile course to the finsih line on The Leas at South Shields.

A GREAT DAY ... thousands of people turned out to support the runners.

Here’s our picture tribute to all those who took part in another fabulous Great North Run - and the hardy souls who turned out to roar them home.
