She will be hoping for a better Olympic experience after 2012 ended in disappointment, and is looking to repeat her gold medal-winning performances from the 2012 World Championship and 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The town appears to have got fully behind the 25-year-old as she aims to fulfil one of her major ambitions.

On the Mail’s Facebook page, over 100 good luck messages were left.

Darren Anderson posted: “Here’s hoping the Poolie puncher pounces again and brings the gold back to Hartlepool. Good luck Savannah the town’s rooting for you.”
