An annual charity golf tournament is set to hit the impressive milestone of £100,000 raised.

Hartlepool and District Hospice’s annual tournament is due to be the biggest to date this year, with 25 teams competing next month at the Wynyard Club.

I’m delighted with the success of these events and each year, we try to see what new elements we can introduce to raise even more money for the Hospice. The competition seems to get bigger every year and I hope that it will continue to grow

The competition is organised by long-term hospice supporter Rob Hoskins of RK Consultancy. He recruits the teams, manages the format of the day and helps to source prizes.

Since becoming involved with the hospice, Rob’s fundraising work has raised more than £85,000 for the charity and this year his goal is to break the £100,000 mark.

The day is sponsored by Fairway Construction Wynyard, Fine and Country Estate Agents and Drive Vauxhall, giving hospice fundraisers a boost to profits before the event has taken place.

The event includes refreshments, a two-course dinner, raffle, auction and prize-giving ceremony. There will also be spot prizes and additional fun competitions on the day.

Hospice fundraiser Greg Hildreth said “Rob has really turned this event into something special; with his involvement, we are fully booked year after year and I have no doubt he’ll smash his fundraising target next month. We see many of the same faces coming back every time as they know how good a time to expect.

“On behalf of all at the hospice, I’d like to thank Rob, all of our sponsors, the Wynyard Club, all of the teams and everyone else who has supported this year’s event. Everything raised will be used to fund our patient care services and I’m looking forward to another great day.”

Rob added: “I’m delighted with the success of these events and each year, we try to see what new elements we can introduce to raise even more money for the Hospice. The competition seems to get bigger every year and I hope that it will continue to grow.

“The hospice is a wonderful organisation and they need as much help as they can get from businesses and the community; I’m really pleased to be able to get involved and help their cause.”
