THOUSANDS of people pounded the roads in the Bupa Great North Run.

We have been there every step of the way to cover one of the world’s greatest half marathon.

The iconic event was staged for the 34th time on the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields, with 57,000 runners near and far descending on the region.

It has been a momentous year for the Great North Run as it became the first event in the world to welcome home its millionth finisher; ahead of events in New York and London.

In association with the event organisers Nova, we have created a ‘Race within a Race’ for residents taking part in this world famous event.

If you live within the postcode catchment area of our newspaper, you’ll be automatically entered into our Bupa Great North Run ‘Race within a Race’ and we’ll publish the results of all finishers in our area in the week following the event.

And the first man and woman to finish from our area will receive a plaque to acknowledge their triumph, together with a complimentary race entry to the 2015 Bupa Great North Run.

The winners will be announced online and in the newspaper later this week.
