A HAIRDRESSER has proved he is a cut above the rest after scooping a prestigious regional title.
Marcus King, of the Hooker and Young salon at Wynyard, Billingham, is celebrating after winning the award of North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards.
The snipper travelled to the glamorous awards ceremony, which is in its 28th year, with 1,700 other guests at Grosvenor House hotel, in London’s Park Lane, which was compered by comedian David Walliams, and music by chart-topping Labrinth.
Marcus was one of only two finalists from the area to make it through to the final of the awards, which are the most recognised awards within the hairdressing industry.
Marcus competed against five other talented stylists within his category and was absolutely overwhelmed to win the title.
He said: “I was so pleased to win the title of North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year, it means so much to not only myself but everyone connected with Hooker & Young.
“This award is also a great tribute to the fantastic hairdressing talent and creativity within County Durham.
“This has been a fantastic year for the entire team at Hooker and Young and I would like to dedicate this award to them as without their amazing help and support it would not have been possible.”
