JAZZ bands from across the country are set to descend on Hartlepool this weekend.
The Borough Hall, on the Headland, is to host the Great Britain Jazz Band Championships with teams from across the North-East, Liverpool and Midlands expected in the town.
Up to 14 teams will be competing for various awards and trophies.
The championships are due to take place tomorrow between 9am and 5pm and members of the public can go along.
Town jazz band, Hartlepool Ambassadors, has organised the championships, which is believed to be the only one of its kind in the country.
Ambassadors chairman Robert Graham, 23, of King Oswy Drive, said: “We cannot wait for Sunday to come.
“It has taken a lot of organising, but we are really pleased to have got there in the end.
“We have teams coming from Newcastle, Sunderland, Liverpool and the Midlands.”
Each team will get 15 minutes to shine and Zodiacs, also from Hartlepool, will be taking part.
Admission on the day is £1.
Hartlepool Ambassadors has 30 members aged four upwards and they train every Sunday between 6pm and 8pm at Westbourne Methodist Church, in Stockton Road, Hartlepool.
