A PARK group is hoping to hold a haunting Halloween event for the first time this year.

The Friends of Ward Jackson Park is hoping to resurrect the fright night walk which was formerly held at the town’s Rossmere Park.

But it is appealing for help in its bid to put the shivers up town residents.

Fran Johnson from the dedicated group said a number of people are needed to get ghouled up for the night and jump out from behind bushes and trees to make the event as fun and spooky as possible.

Members have already tried an number of amateur dramatic groups but they are already booked up for other events.

Fran said: “One thing we are trying to do because other parks aren’t is to host a ghost walk event.

“We’ve been asked to take over the Halloween walk which was previously held at Rossmere park.

“This is the first time we have done this particular event, but with us being a small group we do need some help.

“We are looking for theatrical groups or college students who can help put the event on in October. We want to put on a good event but we need assistance to make it a success.”

She added: “We have tried a couple of amateur dramatic groups but they are already booked up.”

The Friends of Ward Jackson park is looking for people to dress up as ghosts and ghouls to leap out of bushes and scare people during the ghost walk.

“We need people who aren’t afraid to come forward,” she said. “i’m sure if we all pulled together we could make a truly memorable event.

Anyone who would be interested in helping out on the Halloween event at the park in the West Park area of Hartlepool is asked to contact Fran on 07967467563. Alternatively people can leave a message on the groups facebook page, Friends of ward Jackson Park.

The event used to be organised by the Friends of Rossmere Park before it dissolved due to lack of interest last year.
