A HANDBAG snatcher struck as a woman walked through a cemetery.
The 33-year-old is said to have been left “very frightened” after the man grabbed her bag as she walked through Hart Lane Cemetery, in Hartlepool.
A “large quantity” of cash is said to have been taken during the theft at 4.40pm on Thursday, December 13.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “While walking through the cemetery an unknown male jogged towards her and snatched her handbag from her left hand. The handbag contained various items including a large quantity of cash.
“The attacker ran off towards Chester Road and out of sight, leaving the woman in a distressed state. The woman was very frightened but unharmed physically.”
The thief is described as male, of slim build and 6ft tall. He was wearing dark clothing with a hood and a dark woollen hat pulled down to his eyebrows.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with knowledge about the theft to ring Detective Constable Stuart Rowbotham on the non-emergency 101 number.
