THE identity of a woman who plunged around 60ft to her death from the third floor of a retirement village building has been revealed.
Susan Anne Arnell was found dead on the ground outside of a multi-storey block of apartments at Hartfields Extra Care Village, at Bishop Cuthbert, in Hartlepool.
An inquest has been opened in the death of the 53-year-old, who lived at Wethers Nook, Hartfields, by town coroner Malcolm Donnelly at his offices in York Road.
But it has been adjourned for a date yet to be fixed after police have carried out their investigations. The inquest is expected to be concluded at Hartlepool County Court, in Victoria Road.
It is believed Mrs Arnell may have fallen from a window or balcony but this has yet to be confirmed.
A woman, a passer-by, found her on the ground on Monday morning and contacted the emergency services.
A rapid response ambulance crew and police officers rushed to the scene but Mrs Arnell had already died.
She was a resident of the care village and was receiving care and support from Hartlepool Borough Council’s adult social care department.
She was also being offered minor care by Joseph Rowntree Trust staff – the firm which runs Hartfields.
