A Hartlepool blogger has been shortlisted for a national blogging award for his inspiring outdoor adventures.
Stuart Hodgson, 35, who runs blog Stuarthodgson.blogspot.co.uk is in the running in the Go Outdoors awards 2015 which looks to celebrate the best outdoor blogs and brands from the last year.
The awards categories include independent outdoor blog of the year; commercial outdoor blog of the year and outdoor brand of the year, which are all voted for by Go Outdoors customers.
Other awards include camping product of the year; walking product of the year and cycling product of the year which are voted for by a Go Outdoors panel.
Stuart, who works full-time as a graphic designer at marketing agency Zeta Interactive in Middlesborough, is over the moon that his hobby has landed him on the shortlist.
“I was really chuffed to be shortlisted for the Best Independent Blog of the Year,” he said.
“I am really into hiking, walking and photography. I have been a photographer a long time but it is only in the last few years I have started to take more landscape stuff.
“All of the photo/blogging work is just a hobby at the moment – but it would be a dream of mine to make more of my photography work.
“I would like to dedicate more time to it, save up for a professional level camera and perhaps exhibit one day and compile a book!
“Any encouragement I get helps me to kick on a level, knowing people value your work. So the shortlist for the award really provides good motivation for me.”
Stuart, from Ashley Gardens, believes ten blogs have been shortlisted for his award category and the winner will be voted for by members of the public.
Winners will be announced in December and they will receive £200 to spend at Go Outdoors.
He added: “Because I’ve had quite a bit of feedback on the blog inspiring people to undertake some of the walking routes I have done, I would also like to blog about more walking routes closer to Hartlepool to encourage people in the area to discover some of the great outdoors that is just on our doorstep, such as the coastline and surrounding denes and Cleveland Hills.”
