A BOYS brigade is holding its annual fair this weekend to raise funds to support a programme of summer fun.
The 4th Hartlepool Boys Brigade is hosting its Summer Fair at its base in St Matthew’s Community Centre, in Elwick Road, Hartlepool.
The event will take place on Saturday with doors opening at 10am until noon.
There will be a number of stalls for shoppers wanting a bargain, including bric-a-brac, home-made cakes and jams, a tombola, a book stall, toys, and many more.
Admission to the event is 50p, which includes a drink, but children can get in free.
All of the money raised from the usually popular event will be ploughed back into the all boys’ group for a number of trips and visits they have planned this summer.
Leader in charge at 4th Hartlepool Boys Brigade, George Bainbridge, has helped to organise the schedule.
He said the 40 kids involved, who are aged from six-years-old to 16-years-old, will be off to Crimdon Dene, Castle Eden, Thorpe Thewles, the Blue Lagoon and further afield to Whitby, Yorkshire, a camp at the Birch Centre, near Scarborough and a day out paint-balling.
The cash raised will help to pay for transport and food costs.
George told the Hartlepool Mail: “We want to be able to give the kids a good summer so we would love to have as many people come along to the summer fair as possible.
“There will be something for everyone.”
George also said the group is on the look-out for new members.
The Boys Brigade meets every Monday and Friday evening at a cost of £1.50 per session.
The age groups available are from six to eight years old, eight to 11-years-old and 11-year-old plus.
