CARE home residents had a splashing time watching their caring team of nurses getting swilled for charity.
Various members of staff at West View Lodge, in Hartlepool’s West View Road, have been nominated to take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge craze which has been sweeping social media in recent weeks.
But rather than doing the challenge individually, the West View team decided on a group effort.
Care home boss Jayne Dixon and several members of her team went out into the home’s courtyard to undergo the challenge.
Other members of staff, many who had already done the challenge through their own Facebook pages, were only too willing to do the job of throwing the buckerts of freezing water over their colleagues.
Teresa Lax, who works as an activities co-ordinator at the home, said: “There were quite a few of us who got swilled, but it was all good fun.
“The residents seemed to enjoy watching us get the buckets of water thrown over our heads, and the residents who were watching certainly did.
“We’ve all been nominated at different stages, and when we were talking about it at work someone suggested we should all do it together so that’s what we did.”
All of the money raised by the members who braved the buckets will go to the Motor Neurone Disease charity.
Teresa added: “It was freezing cold as you would imagine, but it was all for a good cause and as far as I know nobody has come down with the flu yet.
“It was all good fun - but I don’t think many of us will be volunteering to do it again for a while!”
