A fund-raising event at a Hartlepool shopping centre has been hailed a great success.
Middleton Grange’s dedicated Macmillan Day last month raised £1,455 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The money came from shoppers who took part in a charity tombola where more than 50 prizes were on offer, including perfumes, toys and handbags.
There was also a cake sale, with goods donated by Cooplands and Sandwich Express.
In addition, shoppers could make a £1 donation to enter a draw to win a host of prizes, including a paddle board session for six, donated by Hartlepool Marina.
Centre staff organised the day and many retailers donated prizes, including Halifax, Heron and Dawson and Sanderson, as well as stores such as Boots, Argos and Bonmarche.
Mark Rycraft, centre manager said: “I’d like to thank our shoppers as many attended to show their support and really enjoyed the day, participating in the various activities with the added benefit of taking prizes home!
“The sum raised surpassed our expectations and will be kindly donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, a very worthy cause”
“Our retailers donations and efforts in getting involved with the activities resulted in a fantastic atmosphere throughout the centre, a great day all round”.
In addition to the money the centre raised for the Starlight Children’s Foundation earlier this year, a grand total of £2,955 has been made in donations.
