A dance school will be in the spotlight when it appears in a hit television show.
The hugely successful Dance Mums With Jennifer Ellison returns for a second series next Monday.
The show is already a massive hit after its first series which focused on multi award-winning dancer and musical theatre star Jennifer Ellison as well as her elite dancing proteges.
And this time, as well as Jennifer and her team, Hartlepool dance school owner Debbie Barrass and her students will also be appearing throughout the eight-week run of series two.
Debbie, who runs the Debbie Barrass Academy Of Performing Arts in Hartlepool, said: “I loved it. They were the best television crew to work with.
“I had an absolute blast.”
The show is a spin-off from the US hit Dance Moms.
The UK version on Lifetime TV, which is shown on Sky 156, Virgin 274, Talk Talk 329 and BT 329, follows Jennifer’s students and their straight-talking mums, as they compete against the very best in the world of dance.
Jennifer said of the new series: “I’m so excited to be in my very own Jelli Studios with our incredible dance troupe for this new series on Lifetime. It’s going to be another sensational series with raw talent, tear-jerking moments and, of course, fireworks from our wild Dance Mums!”
Debbie told how she got involved in the show, in which her students are also shown preparing and competing in competitions all over the country.
She said she got a phone call “out of the blue” and was invited to go down to Liverpool to meet the producers and to do a screen test.
She was then invited to become part of the series and agreed.
She said it was a great opportunity for her students to get involved in television and added; “It is about nurturing talent and getting talent out there.”
Debbie’s own background has centred on television, the theatre and the stage.
She trained at the Guildford School of Acting and now runs her dance school in Murray Street.
The new series of the UK version of Dance Mums begins on Monday, October 12, at 9pm on Lifetime.
