lA HEALTH group has joined the Hartlepool Best of Health awards as a major sponsor.

The NHS Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has come on board for our annual competition which recognises the many health heroes in our town.

The Best of Health awards recognise the dedication and hard work of health care professionals across Hartlepool. We understand the challenges they face and recognise the fantastic work they do to improve the health and wellbeing of people across our community. Dr Boleslaw Posmyk

Dr Boleslaw Posmyk, the CCG chairman, said: “As commissioners of health care services across Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees, the CCG is delighted to sponsor the Hartlepool Mail, Best of Health Awards.”

The CCG represents all GP practices in the area. Dr Posmyk added: “Our vision is to develop outstanding, innovative and equitable health and social care services, ensuring excellence and value in delivery of person centred care working across both health and social care.”

CCG officials say health risks are high in Hartlepool when they are compared with other parts of the country. The town has a higher than average rate of smoking.

It also has a high rate of alcohol consumption and lower levels of exercise compared to many other areas.

“Health inequality is also an issue across our region,” said Dr Posmyk.

He said the CCG works with health care professionals across Hartlepool to tackle these challenges and its aims are to:

l Bring care closer to home.

l Tackle health inequalities.

l Care for an ageing population.

l Address the town’s priority health conditions.

l Improve quality levels in primary care.

l Ensure quality and patient safety.

l Improve the health experience for patients.

l Seek best value for money within budget.

Dr Posmyk added: “The Best of Health awards recognise the dedication and hard work of health care professionals across Hartlepool. We understand the challenges they face and recognise the fantastic work they do to improve the health and wellbeing of people across our community.”

We have some fantastic backers for our competition. All we need is lots of entries to make this a success.

The deadline for entries is May 26, and nominations can be made by members of the public or colleagues.
