AN event which was set up to help jobseekers find work in the care sector has been hailed as a huge success.
Hartlepool’s Grand Hotel, in Swainson Street, hosted a Speed Networking event which was set up by the National Careers Service in association with Hartlepool Borough Council’s economic regeneration team on Thursday, September 11.
A total of 69 job hunters turned up to speak to representatives from seven employers, and a total of 310 CVs were handed out during the event.
The employers also distributed 128 application forms.
Anne Smith, employer manager from Hartlepool’s JobCentre Plus, set up the event with colleague Graeme Cadas and Kevin Monaghan from the National Careers Service.
Anne said: “The feedback has been really positive from both jobseekers and the employers.
“It was a great turnout, and the figures we have for the amount of application forms and CVs which were handed out on the day means we are confident people will be recruited into jobs.
“The care sector is the fourth highest employment growth area in Hartlepool, and this demonstrates the fact there are lots of opportunities within this sector.
“It is important to raise awareness of the opportunities within the care sector, and this event did that.
“It is definitely something we will arrange again, as the employers who attended all said it was something they would be keen to take part in further down the line,” she added.
