YOUR Hartlepool Mail is here to stay - continuing to serve its community as the number one provider of news and sport.
There are proposed operational changes but these are far removed from current rumours and reports.
Consultations are under way to relocate some Hartlepool Mail and sister paper Shields Gazette services to Northeast Press’s head office in Sunderland.
It is anticipated this will result in the reduction of six editorial and nine advertising roles in total across the region, but it is hoped that these can be met through voluntary means.
The Mail will always retain a strong, unrivalled presence in the town it has been proud to be part of for the last 135 years.
Readers will still be able to call into our reception in its current location in New Clarence House until a more suitable premises are found.
Editorial and advertising staff will always be available on site to speak with our readers who choose to contact us in person.
Our newspaper vendors will continue to operate from our town centre site and there are no current plans to move our newspaper publishing from daily to weekly, as rumoured.
Most importantly our reporters, photographers, video and digital journalists will continue to bring you the news and views from the town and its surrounding areas in their role on the ground in the community.
Joy Yates, Editor of the Hartlepool Mail, said: “There has been a great deal of recent discussion in connection with the Hartlepool Mail. We are looking forward to a relaunch of the newspaper later this year.
“We continue to be extremely proud and privileged to represent and serve the town with our daily newspaper and website.”
