MEGA runner Lee Dodgson will have a crowd of fellow runners with him as he completes his marathon challenge this weekend.

An expected 30 people have so far agreed to run part of the final 26 miles with Lee when he achieves his ultimate aim - of running seven marathons in seven days in aid of Hartlepool & District Hospice.

We are expecting quite a lot of runners, more than 30. Some of Lee’s co-runners are coming back to do the last 10 kilometres with him.

Greg Hildreth, hospice fundraiser

Lee should finish at Hartlepool College of Further Education on Sunday at around 2.25pm.

The college will be open to welcome Lee and all of his fellow runners and people can come along between 1pm and 4pm to support him, said hospice fundraiser Greg Hildreth.

Greg added: “We are expecting quite a lot of runners, more than 30. Some of Lee’s co-runners are coming back to do the last 10 kilometres with him.

“Four people from the hospice will be doing that last 10k with him and there are a lot of people doing the last five kilometres with him as well.

“We want to say thank you to everyone who has supported the event, including the college and the sponsors.

“We think Lee will be on target to achieve his aim of raising £10,000 for the hospice.”

Greg added: “Every penny of this will be used to care for our patients and support their families throughout very difficult and distressing times and I would like to emphasise the fact that anyone who has helped Lee in this challenge, is helping to make a real difference to the lives of local people in need of our support.”

Lee’s marathon-a-day challenge has been backed by The Pantry, Acorn Landscapes, United Carlton, Kannect, Peart Fencing, Exwold Technologies and Greig Cavey. Hartlepool College of Education is also backing Lee’s endeavours.

Robson Builders is providing refreshments and Anglian Water is providing water for Lee.
