AROUND 900 courageous men and boys took part in the Hartlepool’s Miles for Men 5K run to raise money for cancer research.
Hartlepool’s Mayor, Coun Stephen Akers-Belcher ran in memory of his partner Christopher’s mum who had died due to cancer.
Mr Akers-Belcher said: ”I’m not the most fittest person in the world, but it was good to support charity and add a little bit of physical contribution.
“As I was running, I was thinking about the people who have fallen to the illness, as well as those who are still fighting.
“It was a very emotional day.”
The event has raised more than £84,500 since its launch.
