A FAIR trade group is delighted after getting a town MP to convert to its ethical ways.

Hartlepool Fair Trade Town Steering Group met with MP for Hartlepool Iain Wright at his
offices in the town’s South Road.

While members of the group were there they got Mr Wright to sign a declaration that he would always use Fair Trade products at his offices from now on.

He was also presented with a certficate.

The signature from the MP was inked onto the form on World Trade Day.

Chairman of the group Martin Green said: “There were two strands to the meeting with Iain Wright because not only were we presenting him with a certificate for supporting Fair Trade, it also happened to be Fair Trade Day.”

Martin said Mr Wright will now serve Fair Trade tea and coffee in his offices and at meetings he holds.

Martin added: “Mr Wright was happy to sign it.

“We were delighted that he did too.”
