A WOMAN in her 80s had to be freed from her electric wheelchair after her leg became stuck following a fall.

The lady called for help after the limb became trapped at her bungalow in Parkland Way, West Park, Hartlepool, just before 3am today.

It is thought she became entangled between seat and the bottom section of the machine after a fall.

When firefighters from Hartlepool Stranton arrived at the house, they found a number of carers had already arrived to help and comfort the woman, who was distressed and in pain.

The crew used hand tools to free her within half-an-hour and she was then taken to hospital for treatment by ambulance.
