A POPULAR fish and chip shop is frying high after it was voted batter than all the rest by you.

Fish Face at Seaton Carew has been named the winner of the Mail’s Chip Shop of the Year competition.

We’ve got a good team who work well together which is important to make it successful

It came out top out of a shortlist of 14 chippies from across the town.

Readers voted with their taste buds and decided when it came to serving up delicious fish and chips there was none better.

Susan Atkinson, who owns the seafront takeaway and restaurant with her son David, said: “It’s fantastic.”

She put the secret of their success down to the family’s 20 years in the business, great staff and hard work.

Susan added: “Everything is freshly made and we have been in the trade for 20 years so we know where to go for the best products.

“Staff are very important as well. We’ve got a good team who work well together, which is important to make it successful.

“Also my husband makes the fish frying ranges so we go all over the country to different shops to learn different things and people come here to do training.”

As winners of the Mail competition, Fish Face get a certificate and sticker to put in their window.

It just one more thing to add to their growing list of awards.

Fish Face has won the title for best chips in the North East for the last four years and has a certificate of excellence from the website Trip Advisor.
