Mother and daughter Allison Taylor and Kayleigh Connolly are set to take part in Hartlepool & District Hospice’s landmark Moonlight Walk.

The 10th walk will be held next month and Allison and Kayleigh are two of a small number who have taken part in every single walk since the very first event in 2007.

The walk has evolved over the years from the Midnight Walk to Midnight at the Movies to the Moonlight Walk and the pair have raised more than £800 in sponsorship from these events.

Allison said “The hospice is a great local charity and we are proud to support their good work. These events are also a lovely way for my daughter, Kayleigh and I to spend some quality time together and enjoy a night out.

“It’s also wonderful to see how these events bring people together and we have enjoyed meeting lots of new friends over the years. It’s brilliant that the police come along and help out and it all adds to the atmosphere of the night.”

Janice Forbes, the hospice’s community fundraiser, said: “Since 2007, this event has raised an incredible £314,000 for hospice care, and we hope that this success will continue for many years to come.

“These ladies are a real part of the event and have seen it evolve; it was great to meet with them and hear some of their stories from over the years.”

The event starts at 8pm on Saturday, September 17 at Hartlepool College of Further Education for a pre-walk disco with Walter Barton of Deck One, who will be playing non-stop hits from across the decades.

Registration costs £10; visit www.hartlepoolhospice.co.uk or contact Janice on 01429 855536 to register.
