A TV talent show finalist is set to be the star attraction at a family fun day which is celebrating its 10th birthday.
People can look forward to a three-day family fun event in Hartlepool starting this Friday.
Rift House East Residents’ Association is holding its 10th Family Fun Weekend at Rift House Recreation Ground, in the town’s Kingsley Avenue, with all proceeds going to local community causes.
The event is supported by Hartlepool Borough Council, and the fun gets underway at 3.30pm on Friday, August 12, with a free barbeque and fun until 8pm.
It continues on Saturday, August 13, at 10am when there is an impressive line-up of music including Hartlepool’s very own Rick Snowdon – famous for his recent appearances on ‘The Voice’.
Others appearing on the music stage include The Dynamic Duo, Charlie Campbell, Peter Thomson and The Hawks cheerleaders.
On Sunday, August 14, the fun starts at 11am with attractions including a dog show, birds of prey and Punch and Judy shows. Registration for the dog show is from 11am.
Meanwhile, a car boot sale will be held on Saturday and Sunday with the selling of new items prohibited. Cost is £5 in advance or £7 on the day.
Other attractions over the three days include pony rides, face painting, fairground rides, circus workshop, Bubbleman, Army recruitment and crazy golf.
Organisers of the annual event say they have ‘pushed the boat out’ for the milestone and everal of the attractions will be free of charge.
They also say that all of the proceeds will go to local worthy causes.
Christopher Akers-Belcher, chair of Rift House East Residents’ Association and leader of Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “This year is our 10th Anniversary so we’ve really pushed the boat out to provide a bumper three days of fun for all the family.
“We are hoping that people will attend the event from across the town and even beyond and all proceeds will be used to benefit the local community.
“A lot of the attractions and activities are free including the barbecue so it should be a great three days.”

Singer Rick inspired thousands with his story of how he turned his life around to become a national star.
He was named Role Model of the Year in the Mail’s Best of Hartlepool Awards earlier this year.
Rick, who found fame on The Voice, told how he locked himself in his house for over four years after his weight ballooned to 26 stone, but managed to use music and singing to spur him on to lose weight.
After winning the award, he said: “Winning an award saying that I am a role model is really emotional for me. I don’t see myself as a role model so I am delighted if I am doing something that will inspire people.”
