Have a say in shaping town's future

COUNCILLORS have arranged a ward surgery meeting to give residents the chance to air their views about a major strategy which will help shape Hartlepool's future.

Hartlepool Borough Council is developing a new planning blueprint, called a Core Strategy, which will lay down the main planning framework for the borough for the next 15 years.

It will include details of how Hartlepool is expected to develop, what kind of changes will be needed to make this happen and how they will be brought about.

Now residents in the Park Ward have the chance to have their say on plans to build executive houses at Quarry Farm and Tunstall Farm.

Conservative councillors Ray Wells and George Morris have arranged the surgery for Saturday, January 29, between 10am and 11am, at the Place in the Park cafe, in Ward Jackson Park.

A council planning officer will be on hand to discuss the Core Strategy.

Coun Wells said: "I would urge people from the Park Ward to come along to this meeting as it is a great chance to hear more about the plans for Quarry Farm and Tunstall Farm.

"We are looking for feedback on both of these sites from the public to feed into the consultation process."

Residents wishing to raise concerns about any other issues in the Park Ward can have their say at a ward surgery this weekend. Councillors will be meeting at the Place in the Park cafe on Saturday, from 9.30am.

Key areas of the draft Core Strategy include the expansion of the town to the west and south-west for new housing, with new road access northwards off the A689 and a small expansion of the executive housing at Wynyard and reserving a site for a potential new nuclear power station for the town.

There are various ways in which people can have their say:
