PEOPLE are being urged to help shape a blueprint for the future of housing by taking part in an online survey.
Residents are being asked to provide details of their housing priorities to help Hartlepool Borough Council develop its new Housing Strategy, which will run from to 2015.
The council’s responsibility for strategic housing requires it to take an overview of all housing-related issues, including achieving sustainable communities, the state of the housing market, the condition of homes and access to social housing.
The online survey follows on from three workshops at which representatives from a range of stakeholder organisations discussed the three main topics that will form the basis of the new strategy.
They include new homes/new and sustainable communities, existing homes/ensuring sustainable communities and meeting specific needs.
Karen Kelly, the council’s housing strategy officer, said: “Issues raised at the workshops form the basis of the online questionnaire.
“The survey is an opportunity for residents to prioritise those issues and select the actions that they would like the council to move forward with and achieve by 2015.
“This way, we feel that the new strategy will be truly representative of the views of stakeholder organisations and the wider community.”
The online survey, which takes around five minutes to complete, will run throughout this month and results will be used to develop the first draft of the new Housing Strategy.
