YOUNGSTERS strutted on the catwalk at a fashion show to show off clothes and outfits they had created themselves.
The confident children spent the morning designing clothes, jewellery and headpieces using recycled materials.
And then they put their creative outfits to use at a fun fashion show at OSCARS playcentre, in Catcote Road.
The event was one of a number of activities staff organised for the children to keep them busy during the Easter holidays.
Sandra Robinson, Hartlepool Borough Council’s out-of-school coordinator, said: “The children absolutely loved the fashion show, even the boys took part and we didn’t think they would be too keen.
“They spent all morning designing outfits before the fashion show on the afternoon and some of the designs were fantastic.
“The fashion show is definitely something we will do again, they all really enjoyed it.”
It’s been an action-packed two weeks for the children who have attended the after-school and holiday programme, based at Hartlepool West Rugby Club.
Staff also organised trips to Ward Jackson Park, Summerhill Country Park, Mr Twisters and UK Superbowl.
Yesterday rugby players visited the centre to give youngsters a fun coaching session.
Sandra added: “We always try to organise a variety of activities and events for the children during the holidays.
“It just gives them something to do and keeps them busy. It’s been an excellent couple of weeks.
“We have had some great feedback from parents as well which is always good, and a lot have brought their children along for the first time because they have heard about us.
“I have already started planning for the next school holidays in May.”
OSCARS, which has been running for almost 20 years, provides after school and holiday care for children between the ages of three to 16.
Parents can drop children off from 8am during school holidays and the youngsters can enjoy activities prior to being picked up before 5.45pm.
The centre also runs an after school service which involves children being picked up from school with parents collecting them before 6pm.
